Join the JM Jazz World 2016! Applications now open.

Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) invites you to apply for the 2016 edition of the JM Jazz World Orchestra!

The JM Jazz World is an international jazz big band for globe’s best young musicians. Led by acclaimed international artistic directors, the orchestra meets for a weeks’ rehearsal before heading of on to tour the international jazz circuit.

The 2016’s inspiring musical and intercultural experience will be hosted by JM Germany at the JMI World Meeting Centre in Weikersheim, Germany from the 28th of June to the 5th of July 2016. There musicians can look forward to one week of jazzy fun in an idyllic setting to learn, jam and prepare for the tour that will finish around the 15th of July (dates to be confirmed).

The JM Jazz World is looking for talented musicians between the ages of 18 and 26 playing saxophone, trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, piano and vocals. It is essential that you read sheet music, but the most important thing is your love for jazz music!

We are excited to say that Luis Bonilla (USA) will join us again to lead this year's JM Jazz World. Bonilla, a California raised, Costa Rican trombonist, composer and arranger, has taken in and mastered an incredible array of musical styles. His success as a sideman with such greats as McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, Astrud Gilberto, Willie Colon and Toshiko Akiyoshi attests not only to the skill and variety of Bonilla’s talent, but also to a mind restlessly committed to exploring some of the most complex and demanding music of our time.

Selected musicians will have the chance to socialize, play and work together to create the best young big band the world has ever seen.

"There's nothing more satisfying than the camaraderie in building a team to make a dream become reality. The thrill of creating a foundation to turn passion into a future livelihood is rewarding in a way that defies description for these young artists. This in short, defines the JMI World Jazz Orchestra 2015 edition. The orchestra's success is greatly attributed to the unique consortium of players we assembled. The overwhelming feedback we received throughout our tour only fuels our desire to repeat our efforts for the summer of 2016. Needless to say, we are ecstatic to present new faces and new music to audiences across Europe with a freshness that only JMI World Jazz Orchestra presents."
