Erlend Skomsvoll
In 2014, the JMJW orchestra will be under the artistic leadership of the renowned Norwegian jazz musician, composer and arranger Erlend Skomsvoll. Skomsvoll was educated at Norges Musikkhøgskole in Oslo where he contributed to the jazz ensemble ‘Come Shine’. He has worked, since the early noughties, as central performer, conductor and arranger for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra. In 2002 he began making music arrangements for concerts and has up to date worked with jazz greats such as Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and New York Voices to name but a few. In 2003 he was awarded, for his significant contribution to jazz, the Lindeman prize for excellence in jazz composition, performance and education.
